Dr. M. Y. Chaproo, Director Animal Husbandry Department Kashmir, gave course completion certificates to poultry entrepreneurs during a ceremony held at Directorate of Animal Husbandry Kashmir, on 13 August, 2018. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. M. Y. Chaproo said that the goal of the Department's skill development initiatives was to empower people, making them self employed, so as to open new economic and social perspectives. He also said that the Poultry sector is showing an encouraging growth and demands are expected to double in the next 5 years, as such the sector holds great promise in providing gainful employment to the educated unemployed youth of the region.
These entrepreneurs were trained at Poultry Project Hariparbat in a capsule course of 7 - days duration. Last year as many as 250 youth were trained under the said program. Youth who wish to register under the free course can send their contact information to [email protected]
Dr Chaproo also said that the Directorate is working on devising a similar course for dairy farming whose details will be available on their website soon.
