In an impressive function which was attended by a dignitaries from across the administrative spectrum of the state at SKICC Srinagar on 19th July 2019, Hon’ble governor of J&K Shri Satya Pal Malik released a coffee table book on J&K Livestock Breeding Policy (2019) and another booklet on J&K Bovine Breeding Rules (2019). Speaking on the occasion the Hon’ble Governor stressed on the importance of livestock sector as a tool for alleviating rural poverty and achieving the goal of doubling farmers income by 2022. The Hon’ble Governor also flagged of J&K’s first Electric Buses for public transportation through SRTC.
The Hon’ble Union Minster for Heavy Industry and Public Enterprise Shri Arvind Ganpat Sawant who also attended the function conveyed the support of the union government in holistic development of all sectors of the state. Other speakers including Shri Kewal Kumar Sharma, Shri K. Skandan Advisors to Hon’ble Governor & Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, Principal Secretary Animal Sheep Husbandry and Transport reiterated the commitment of the government in improving the lot of livestock farmers of the state by extending the benefits of newer technologies and implementing a proactive policy of livestock development.
A one-day seminar on Rashtriya Gokul Mission and Information Network for Animal Productivity & Health (INAPH) in which speakers from National Diary Development Board delivered lectures on RGM & INAPH was also held at the same venue. The importance of RGM and INAPH in delivering a world class bovine breeding service in favour of dairy farmers was highlighted and officers of the department made aware of the various components and functions under it.
